Removing Mold From Your Dehumidifier

Typically, dehumidifiers are instrumental in the prevention of mold, especially during the summer. While the main purpose of a dehumidifier is to remove moisture from the air, it can also collect bacteria, dust, and even mold spores. Cleaning Process

Step 1: Unplug your dehumidifier. 

Step 2: Clean the outside of your dehumidifier with a damp cloth. Make sure you wring out the cloth to keep any excess water from getting into any electrical parts.

Step 3: Begin cleaning the inside. To accomplish this, just empty the reservoir before filling it with liquid soap and warm water. Use a sponge to scrub the inside of the reservoir before rinsing it out and letting it dry. 

Step 4: Next, you will clean off your air filter. This is crucial since it is where all of the bacteria, mold, etc. gather. Some may also have bucket filters. Regardless of how many filters you have, you can rinse them with warm, soapy water to clean them off. Once you are satisfied with the results, allow them to air dry before placing them back inside.

Step 5: While you don’t have to complete this step, you can use the vacuum hose and an appropriate attachment to clean out the exterior vent and any other areas.

Removing Mold

Let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing. Once you are finished, rinse the region before drying it off. To avoid a moldy dehumidifier, clean yours every three weeks during the summer.
